Making an Appointment
Clinical services with the physicians are provided by appointment only.
To make an appointment - either call or use your online portal
- Call 713-348-4966 to speak with an assistant who will then make you an appointment. This is ideal for same day appointments.
- Log on to your student portal via SSO https://studenthealth.rice.edu to make an appointment.
- We cannot set up appointments by e-mail.
- If you are unable to attend your appointment, please call us to cancel in advance so that we may offer the appointment to another student.
- Student Health Services does not file or bill health insurance. Our services are available to all eligible students regardless of insurance coverage, as they are paid for through student tuition and fees.
Are We Booked?
What to do if you feel you need an appointment and we are all booked up:
The most common reason students seek care is for “colds” (viral upper respiratory infections). During certain times of the year, demand for appointments significantly exceeds availability. Since there is no cure for the common cold, we encourage students to consider self-care and symptom management for these types of illnesses.
We also offer cold self-care kits in the clinic, which students may obtain by walking in and requesting them. In addition, our after-hours care resources include nurse advice lines and local urgent care centers.
